How much are your school’s IP addresses worth?

Educational institutions of all kinds have large numbers of unneeded and unused internet addresses. They were distributed to schools free in the 1990s. Because they were abundant (and free) huge numbers were often given to even small schools. Universities received vast amounts. “They” are IPv4 addresses.

Established business networks that are growing need more IP addresses. Others, like schools with a surplus, can sell them. Many institutions have 65,000 address allotments and use 1,000 or so. This is VERY common. The extra, unused addresses in such a circumstance may be worth $3 million.
